    IN Bred RETROSPECTION (Daaher) wins another stakes race - the Governors S at Indiana Grand. He broke his maiden last year at 2 and came back in his sophomore year with 2 seconds in allowance company at Indiana Grand and then won the Hoosier Breeders Sophomore Stakes by a head. The win in the Governors S is his third win of which 2 are in stakes He has earned over $198,000 for owner Beth Burkett and  breeder Randy Burkett.

  • All sorts of action for the MAKER BARN

    Mike Maker sends 5yo BIG BROWN gelding SPECIAL OPS all over the country to race. This time he won the the WEST VIRGINIA HOUSE OF DELEGATES SPEAKER'S CUP S. at Mountaineer. He  got his first stakes placing in the Warrior Veterans Stakes running 1 1/16 on the turf  at Indiana Downs. He has been seen at Aqueduct, Belmont, Saratoga, PARX, Churchill, Keeneland, and the Fair Grounds! He has earned $259,262 for his owner SkyChai Stable and breeder Candy Meadows LLC. Right behind SPECIAL OPS was GALTON (Offlee Wild) who races for Michael Hui.

    In addition TRUST FACTOR (Paddy O'Prado) ran second in the Louisiana Cup Turf Classic for owner Scrivener Stables and upped earnings over $194,000.

    In the 2 year old front, filly MALIBU SAINT won by a nose in an exciting finish going a mile on the turf at Indiana Downs in her second start lifetime. She is owned by Treadway Racing Stable.

  • BIGGER PICTURE 2nd by a neck in the Bowling Green G2

    Claimed from Michael Dubb, Bethlehem stables and Rudy Rodriguez for $32,000 at the end of 2015, BIGGER PICTURE is yet another Mike Maker claimer to graded winner success story. He came within a neck of wining the Bowling Green G2.  Victorious in the GIII John B. Connally in January, the chestnut checked in fourth in Gulfstream’s GII Mac Diarmida S. Mar. 4 and was third over a yielding course at Keeneland in the GII Dixiana Elkhorn S. Apr. 22. The gelding unleashed a furious late turn of foot to get up just in time to deny the Motion-trained Canthelpbelieving (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade {Ire}) by a head in Monmouth’s GI United Nations S. at this race’s 1 3/8-mile distance July 1.

  • G3SW FAST AND ACCURATE 3rd in the Crowd Pleaser at PARX

    FAST AND ACCURATE (Hansen) ,winner of the  Grade 3 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park, added to his laurels running third in Crowd Pleaser S  at PARX. He has earned over $350,000 for owner Dr. Kendall Hansen, With his 10 lifetime starts he is earning at the clip of t: $35,730 per start!

    Already stakes placed  in the Dixie Poker Ace S  at the Fair Grounds,TRUST FACTOR (Paddy O'Prado) stepped it up a notch winning the Louisiana Legends Turf S  at Lousiana Downs for owner Scrivener Stables. Racing 1 1/16 on the grass he  won wire to wire after holding off a closer in a stretch duel. He has earned over $184,000.

  • I'M BETTY G scores in the Pearl Necklace at Laurel

    I'M BETTY G broke her maiden last out at Indiana Grand.  Moving straight from that win into stakes company in the Pearl Necklace at Laurel, the Maryland bred filly  scored again.  She overcame a stumble breaking from the gate and went straight to the lead and stayed there to wire the field to make it 2 in a row and her first stakes victory. She is owned by Three Diamonds Farm. 

    Add to that SPECIAL OPS stakes placing in the Warrior Veterans Stakes at Indiana Downs for SkyChai Stable. He has earned over $214,000.

    TWO STEP TIME ( Two Step Salsa) was recently 3rd in the Tropical Park Derby for owner Get Away Farm. Today at Gulfstream he ran third in the Mecke H  and upped his earnings to $186,415.

    A winner last out in a Starter Handicap at Gulfstream MSW KEYSTONEFORVICTORY (Shakespeare) worked his way from mid pack to the outside to drive for the win in the STARS AND STRIPES G3 at Arlington racing 1 1/2 on the turf.  KEYSTONEFORVICTORY  is owned by  the Ramseys and  has earned $307,590.

    Also at Arlington, GORGEOUS KITTEN ran second in the  American Derby G2 at  It is his second graded stakes placing for this Ramsey homebred

  • 8 year old PARTY MOCHA by HALF OURS adds more black type

    MSW PARTLY MOCHA missed by a head  sprinting in the Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream. He came wide but ran out of track. He had the same thing happen in the Mighty Beau Overnight Stakes last mornth and the Claiming Crown stakes on opening day at Gulfstream. The  8 year old gelding turned the tables winning the Bucharest Turf Sprint S at Sam Houston and the Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint Stakes also at Sam Houston.  He is owned by the Ramseys , he was a wise claim for his new connections last year at Saratoga. PARTLY MOCHAhas earned over $481,000 and is wonderfully consistent with a record of 40: 9 10 7.

    Multiple graded stakes placed Kitten's Roar added another G2 stakes placing to her name in the G2- New York S Presented By Nyra Bets going 1 1/4 on the turf for owners the Ramseys and breeder Dapple Bloodstock.

    The 8 year old SW PARTLY MOCHA (Half Ours) ran second by a head in the Mighty Beau Overnight S at Churchill.He was a claim last year for the Ramseys, He has earned over $465,000 with a lifetime record of 39 9-9-7. Also at Churchill and also for the Ramseys, Hunka Burning Love (Into Mischief) won an $100,000 AOC and pushed his earnings over $100,000. Mike;s own horse Caniform (Scat Daddy) broke his maiden going 6 furlongs on the dirt. .

    Iowa Bred Han Sense (Hansen) also ran second in a stakes race, his was the Grays Lake S  at Prairie Meadows for owner Kendall E Hansen. 

    Finally at Penn National, Lillie`s Answer (Kitten's Joy) ran third in the Lyphard S, adding black type to her name for owner Three Diamonds Farm and successfully added value as a broodmare.


  • Busy and productive day for the Maker barn

    Going 1 1/2 miles on the turf,  DARING DUCHESS( Arch) won the KEERTANA OVERNIGHT S for Kenneth & Sarah Ramsey. She is another of Mike's wise claims. She was claimed for the Ramseys for $35,000 at Saratoga. She kept a low profile initially and then in her first start in 2017, she was second to Quiet Business in the GIII Bewitch S at Keeneland. In the KEERTANA she seized control early and easily  scored her first black-type victory. She has earned over $200,000.

    Also a SW was SUSIE BEE (English Channel) who took the  CHRISTMAS PAST S.for owner Calumet Farm, It was her fifth win and she has earned $280,863..

    Stakes placed was Gorgeous Kitten in the G3- Arlington Classic S  adding his first graded black type for his owners, the for the Ramseys.

    Also winning was 8 year old multiple graded staked placed Hammers Terror, claimed 2 years ago for owner Michael M. Hui.Hammers Terror has earned over $500,000.

  • TAGHLEEB second in the G1 Man O War at Belmont

    Michael Hui's TAGHLEEB picked up his first graded score this Janauary in the $200,000 W. L. McKnight Handicap (G3T) at Gulfstream Park. The 6-year-old son of Hard Spun  came off a victory in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Gulfstream. Facing the heavy rain at Belmont and a yielding turf course, he overcame a bobble at the start and a wide trip and finished well to be second in the G1 Man O War. He has earned $538,029. MGSW CHARMING KITTEN. also from the Maker barn, garnered 4th and pushed his earnings over a million!

  • More stakes action for the Maker barn

    On the KY Derby card, MSW OSCAR NOMINATED ran third in the G1- Woodford Reserve Turf Classic S and bumped his earnings to $806,195 for his owners the Ramseys. He was bred by Mrs Jerry Amerman. At Gulfstream 3 year old filly Blame the Law added black type to her pedigree running third is the Honey Ryder S. This will up her broodmare value for owner Jordan V Wycoff.


  • SIR DUDLEY DIGGES fights back to take allowance at Churchill

    On Derby day SW SIR DUDLEY DIGGES closed and then had to fight back another closer who got by him. Fight he did and he drew off to win over a soaked turf course. He is pushing 3/4 of a million dollars in earnings for the Ramseys, 

  • INTERNATIONAL STAR 3rd in the Alysheba S

    GSW INTERNATIONAL STAR, winner of last year's Louisiana Derby G2 ran third in the Alysheba S.  Gr. 2 . On a speed favoring sloppy track he closed willingly when he got the green light to be third. He upped his earnings over $1,240,000. He is owned by the Ramseys.

  • Two more stakes placings for the Maker Barn

    Tiger of Wales gained his first black type in the Bosselman Pump and Pantry/Gus Fonner Stakes. He is owned by  J. Armando Rodriguez Racing Stable, Inc. and was bred by Carol Kemp. Tiger of Wales has earned over $150,000.

    At Churchill in the William Walker S, SW EN HANSE added a place via DQ. He is a homebred for Kendall E Hansen. Skier  Bode Miller is a co-owner. EN HANSE had to fan 8 wide to find racing room.He has earned over $100,000. 

  • DARING DUCHESS gains her first stakes placing in a G3

    5 year old mare, DARING DUCHESS (Arch), gained the lead in the Bewitch G3, but could not hold off a closer in the stretch and had to settle for the place. Still she added graded black-type to her pedigree page and upped her earnings over $167,000. The mare is owned by the Ramseys and this will make her anticpated date with Kitten's Joy all the sweeter.

  • 2 graded stakes placings for the Maker Barn

    MSW CHARMING KITTEN ran second in the G2- Dixiana Elkhorn S at Keeneland for the Ramseys and is pushing a million dollars in earnings. He was bothered by traffic and was rolling at the end. The 7 year old is a money making machine. Following in the show position was MGSW BIGGER PICTURE (Badge of Silver) for owner Three Diamonds Farm. He has earned over $650,000.  



    Ramseys, Maker Repeat at Turfway: Ken and Sarah Ramsey were the leading owners at Turfway Park for the 12th time when racing concluded at the Florence, Kentucky track's winter/spring meet Apr. 1. The Ramseys, who were also the leading owners at Gulfstream=s championship meet which concluded Sunday, sent out 12 winners from 40 Turfway starters. Mike Maker earned his fifth consecutive Turfway training title, and 19th overall, saddling 27 winners during the 46-day meeting. Alonso Quinonez captured the first riding title of his career with 50 wins from 266 mounts. Racing returns to Turfway Nov. 29. 

  • PRIZE FIGHT earns stakes placing

    Three year old gelding Prize Fight (Tiznow) broke his maiden earlier this year at Gulfstream. Trying the 14 Hands Winery Sophomore Turf Stakes at Tampa Bay, he rallied well for the show position. He is owned by  Three Diamonds Farm and was bred by Haras Santa Maria de Araras S. A. & Tiznow Syndicate.

  • BIG day for the Maker barn

    ENTERPRISING won the G2- Muniz Memorial H at the Fair Grounds for owner Maxis Stable and pushed his earnings over 3/4 of a million dollars. ENTERPRISING, a game last out winner of the GIII Fair Grounds H.made it two straight with this narrow score.  He drew on the fence here and raced in striking distance then shot through an opening along the inside in the stretch and came out on top in a wild three-horse photo finish. 

    MSW OSCAR NOMINATED ran third in the G2- Muniz Memorial H at the Fair Grounds for the Ramseys and upped his earnings to $759,195.

    Designed for War added another graded stakes placing to his name in the G2- Pan American S for Three Diamonds Farm and has earned $204,287. To add to the fun for Three Diamonds Farm, Shiraz ran third in the Cutler Bay H also at Gulfstream.

    SW EN HANSE, winner of the WEBN Stakes last out, ran second in the John Battaglia Memorial S at Turfway for owners Bode Miller and Kendall Hansen, Also stakes placed today was Trust Factor who ran second in the Dixie Poker Ace S  at the Fair Grounds for owner Scrivener Stables. This was his first start in stakes company.

  • Good day at the races for the Maker barn

    Mike had bookends  in the WEBN S at Turfway Park, with EN HANSE the winner and Hunka Burning Love (by Into Mischief ) in third. It was thie first stakes win for EN HANSE  who is owned by Kendall E. Hansen and Bode Miller.  Dr. Hansen is the breeder as well and of course the owner of major SW HANSEN, The gray or roan colt went to the lead early although fanned out 7 wide. He cleared his field  for the win by 3 1/2 lengths. Also fanned very wide was Hunka Burning Love who made a bid in the stretch and checked in third for the Ramseys.

    To add to the day, PORTANDO had a nice win at PARX for his owner Three Diamonds Farm and raised his earnings over $129,000.

  • HOT DAD adds black type

    HOT DAD ( Sidney's Candy) had a stakes placing already in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes. He added to that with an allowance win and now another stakes placing in the Keith Gee Memorial Overnight Stakes at the Fair Grounds. He is owned by Warner Thoroughbreds,  Jim, Setzer, Brett Setzer,and Triple R Racing, Inc. and has earned over $93,000.

  • Shiraz adds his first stakes placing in the Dania Beach S G3

    NY Bred Shiraz (Tale of the Cat) stepped up into graded stakes company in the Dania Beach G3 at Gulfstream after a graduating this fall at Belmont. He was checked early in the race but swung out to get up for third. He is owned by  Three Diamonds Farm and was bred by Lambholm.

     Kitten's Roar was second in the Blushing K D S at the Fair Grounds and Granny's Kitten was third in the Buddy Diliberto Memorial S also at the Fair Grounds. Both are owned by the Ramseys and  have significant earnings with Granny's Kitten in the lead with earnings of $385,851 followed by Kitten's Roar at $271,958. Also gaining black type was MSW ENTERPRISING who was third  in the Praire Bayou at Turfway. He has earned just a tick under half a million dollars for his owner Maxis Stable.

    2 yo Hey Mike, added STILL another stakes placing, this one in the Pulpit S at Gulfstream. He is owned and was bred by Michael Hui and has earned over $100,000 and has not been off the board in 5 starts..

    Making his 29th start, 7 year old MSW COALPORT (Kitten's Joy) ran a good third in the G3- Tropical Turf H at Gulfstream Park West. He has earned over $621,000 for his owner/breeders the Ramseys.

    MSW GIANNA' S DREAM (Twirling Candy), recent winner of the Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf S at Remington Park shipped to Aueduct and landed a second in the Winter Memories S. GIANNA'S DREAM is owned by Center Hills Farm & Randy Blair and Zeta Zody is owned by Skychai Racing and her trainer. The 3 YO filly has earned over $218,000.

    The Ramsey's Kitten's Roar already had one stakes placing and today she added a graded stakes placing, running 2nd in the G3 Cardinal H at Churchill Downs, going 1 1/8 on the turf. She has earned over $250,000

    Mike had the first 2 across the wire in the Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf S at Remington Park.GIANNA' S DREAM was the winner followed by Zeta Zody. GIANNA'S DREAM is owned by Center Hills Farm & Randy Blair and Zeta Zody is owned by Skychai Racing and her trainer. Both fillies are multiple stakes winners and each has won well over $200,000.

  • Good day at Keeneland for the Maker barn

    Multiple stakes placed, Bigger Picture, added another - this time a G3 - in the Sycamore S  going 1 1/2 on the turf at Keeneland. He is another of Mike's claimer to stakes horses achievements. Bigger Picture is owned by Three Diamonds Farm. On the same card stakes placed Kitten's Roar won an allowance race for the Ramseys.

    At Laurel GENEROUS KITTEN ran second  in the Laurel Turf Cup S  for the Ramseys and raised his earnings over $160,000. At Louisiana Downs. COALPORT, another Kitten's Joy ran second in Unbridled S also for the Ramseys. His earnings stand at $578,283. Finally Roman Approval by Roman Ruler ran third in the Ptha Presidents Cup S at PARX. He has earned $534,763 to date for owner Three Diamonds Farm.

    Graded SW ENTERPRISING showed up in Mike's barn for his prior start in a starter allowance. Doing what he does best with older geldings with back class, Mike entered him in the Vid S. at Gulfstream and was rewarded with a good second.

    The wonderfully named WATCHYOUROWNBOBBER took the West Virginia House Of Delegates at Mountaineer and before than the Warrior Veterans S at Indiana Grand on Indiana Derby Day. He was a clever claim even before he broke his maiden for the Ramseys. Now he has multiple stakes placings, 2 stakes wins and he has earned over $323,000. On the same card SUZIE BEE ran second in the West Virginia Senate Presidents Cup for Calumet and is pushing $200,000 in earnings. Adding to the excitement for the Ramseys,GRANNY'S KITTEN ran third in the Robellino S  and now has over $282,000 in earnings.

    Three year old filly Try Your Luck rallied late to be third in the Tawee S at Indiana Grand for owner Stefanie Carroll. This was her second stakes placing in a row - she was also third in the Regret Stakes - Gr. 3 at Churchill. She has earned over $100,000.

    Giddy Up Stables, homebred three year old Roaring Fever colt Go Go Lucky, gained black type running third in the Stallion Stakes at Belmont. The race was 7 furlongs on the turf. Go Go Lucky was off a step slow, raced towards the inside and then came wide in the stretch.

    Three year old Sir Dudley Digges broke his maiden last out at Keeneland. Stepping up into stakes company in the Plate Trial at Woodbine, he finished gamely for the show. He is a Gio Ponit colt owned by the Ramseys.

  • 1 SW and 1 stakes placed for Mike

    5 year old English Channel mare, AL'S GAL, a $35,000 claim in 2015 adds a win in the KEERTANA S.at Churchill Downs to her resume going  1 1/2 miles on the turf. She is  owned by Kenneth L. & Sarah K. Ramsey and has upped her earnings to  $279,855. She Narrowly missed when 2nd in the GIII Bewitch S. last out at Keeneland. She got away with speed and  stalked the pace from a close fourth while saving ground in the early going., she turned up the pressure passing the three-eighths pole and drew well clear in the stretch. 

    On the same day at Arlington, Swagger Jagger ran third in the G3 Arlington Classic S. He is owned by Warner Thoroughbreds, Lewis, III, Lewis, Setzer, Setzer et al



  • Mike gets place and show in the Louisville H. G3

    At Churchill, in the mile and one half Louisville H G3, Mike had the place and show horses. Johns Kitten by Kitten' s Joy rallied from far back to gain the place and add the first black type to his pedigree He is owned by the Ramseys  Johns Kitten pushed his earnings to over $97,000. Hitting the board in the show position was the veteran Roman Approval owned by Three Diamonds. Multiple graded stakes placed Roman Approval has earned over $435,000.

  • Hey Mike stakes placed in the Kentucky Juvenile S at Churchill

    The appropriately named 2 year old colt, HEY MIKE, has now added black type to his pedigree, running 2nd in the Kentucky Juvenile S  at Churchill Downs. In in priorr start, he snuck up the rail and hit the wire ahead of the Wesley Ward favorite to win first out at Keeneland. He is by Cape Blanco {Ire}. and is a homebred for Michael Hui.

  • Mike takes trainer title at Keeneland

    Mike Maker won his fourth Keeneland leading trainer title with 13 victories, including a win in the GII Dixiana Elkhorn S. with Da Big Hoss (Lemon Drop Kid). 

  • Another great day racing for Mike

    SMOKEM KITTEN won the G3 Miami Mile at Gulfstream for the Ramseys to add another stake winner notch in the belt of his sire Kitten's Joy. Also at Gulfstream, English Channel filly Susie Bee ran third in the  Powder Break S adding black type to her pedigree and upping her earnings to $113,333. She is owned by Bluegrass Hall LLC. To cap it off, Southern Gem won an $80.000 allowance race at Belmont for his owner Three Diamonds Farm and R. Verratti  and Zoo Yorker won at CHurchill for owner Mark Breen.

  • Al's Gal adds graded black type in the Bewitch G3

    Already stakes placed, Al's Gal by English Channel added a graded stakes placing in the Bewitch S. G3 at Keeneland. She is owned by the Ramseys and was bred by Malone Racing LLC. The 5 year old mare has earned $247,395.

    A clever $50,000 claim last year by trainer Mike Maker and Skychai Racing, 5-year-old Da Big Hoss continued to reward his new connections April 23, when he won his first grade II event. The Lemon Drop Kid runner shot through on the rail under jockey Florent Geroux and held off rallying Kaigun by half a length to claim the $250,000 Elkhorn Stakes (gr. IIT) at Keeneland. He added the 1 1/2-mile turf race to a resume that includes wins in the John B. Connally Turf (gr. IIIT) and Kentucky Turf Cup (gr. IIIT). "He's a very neat horse," Geroux said. "When there's an opening he can shoot through very quickly, and that made the difference today. When I was able to see the opening at the top of the stretch, my horse kicked through and kept on going." Bred in Kentucky by Gary and Mary West out of the Touch Gold mare Lady Struck Gold, Da Big Hoss made 10 starts for the Wests and trainer Wayne Catalano before moving to Maker. Seven of his eight subsequent races have been in stakes.

    On the same day, Mike had 2 more winners and a nice stakes placing by PARTLY MOCHA in the Confucius Cay S  at Charles Town.

    Three year old Discreetly Mine colt, I`m No Secret added black type. sprinting to the show position  in the Fisher Island H at Gulfstream. He is a homebred for Get Away Farm.

  • Mike wore a path to the winner's circle at Turfway

    The most exciting was recently claimed OSCAR NOMINATED who punched his ticket to the KY DERBY. Also winning were  AFLEET LADY and SCISSORS AND TAPE both breaking their maidens in MSW company.

  • ANOTHER Mike Maker claimed horse wins a G2: Maker Exacta

    S'MAVERLOUS was claimed for $32,000 this fall at Belmont. The 6 year old Tiz Wonderful gelding had 2 allowance wins after he changed barns and stepping up into Grade 2 stakes company, he nailed the $400,000 New Orleans Handicap at the Fair Grounds. He is now owned by Gata Racing Stable LLC and has earned over $500,000. This is one of Mike's specialties - claiming a horse and moving it up into Graded stakes company - sometimes all the way to the Breeders' Cup!

    It was a MIKE MAKE EXACTA as GSW INTERNATIONAL STAR, winner of last year's Louisiana Derby G2, was placed second due to interference. He upped his earnings over $1,150,000. He is owned by the Ramseys.

  • Good stakes day for Mike

    Just in time for the actual OSCARS, OSCAR NOMINATED won the Black Gold Overnight S  going  7-1/2 furlongs on the turf. He was bred by the Ramseys and is now owned by Mrs Jerry Amerman. He  has 2 wins and 2 seconds from 6 starts and is approaching $90,000 in earnings.

    At Sam Houston, TWO STEP TIME won his first stakes, the Texas Heritage S, for his owner Get Away Farm. He has earned over $93,000 and has not been off the board.

  • Stakes placing and a winner at the Fair Grounds

    Multiple graded stakes placed year old horse, Roman Approval added black type running second in the G3. Fair Grounds H. He is owned by Three Diamonds Farm and was bred by Glencrest Farm LLC & Fox-Straus. He has earned over $423,000. On the same card, 7 year old Hammers Terror won an AOC and pushed his earnings close to $450,000.  Hammers Terror was a claim last March for owner Michael M Hui. Mike does a great job of keeping these wonderful old horses with back class happy.

  • Magna Breeze 2nd in the Houston Turf S

     MSW MAGNA BREEZE,  who had  run for a $15,000 tag, added more black type running second in the Houston Turf S at Sam Houston. He is owned by William J Buck Butler and has earned over $183,000.

  • DA BIG HOSS romps in the John B. Connally Turf Cup Stakes - Gr. 3

    Newly claimed for $50,000, DA BIG HOSS, won the  G3 Kentucky Downs Turf Cup for new owner Skychai Racing LLC, and then took the show spot in the G3- W L Mcknight H at Gulfstream Park. In his most recent start, the John B. Connally Turf Cup Stakes - Gr. 3 at Sam Houston,  he settled on the rail and then found a seam and went through for an easy win by over 4 lenghts, He has earned over $700,000.

  • Two Step Time second in the OBS Obs Championship S

    Two Step Time slipped up the inside and got the place in the OBS Championship S. going 1 1/16 on the All Weather track at the Ocala Training Center. The three year old is owned by  Get Away Farm and was bred by Chessmate Thoroughbreds International LLC & Peter Halsall.

  • Magna Breeze 3rd in the Richard King S at Sam Houston

    Multiple SW Texas bred MAGNA BREEZE went wide to hold for third in the Richard King S. at Sam Houston. He is owned by William J. Butler.

    Mike had two other winners, 4 year old Curlin filly, Split it , won at Turfway for owner /breeder James M Herbener Jr and Tapit horse Tax Deduction also won at Turfway and was claimed.

  • International Star looks to rebound in Louisiana Stakes
